What kind of food will be available at Friday Night Lounge on October 4th?

Amy’s Pastelillos

Since 2018 Amy’s Pastelillos has been highlighting one particular “fritura” (fried snack) from the island of Puerto Rico - the pastelillo. Amy’s Pastelillos began as a tribute to her mother which has evolved from a popup concept to a brick and mortar, catering and wholesale business. Not only can you enjoy pastelillos, but Amy also offers an expanded menu, with items like pollito bowls, and tostones nachos with rotating daily specials. Prior to opening her takeout location in Fishtown, Amy traveled around the city feeding different neighborhoods through a variety of popup and collaborative events. Amy’s Pastelillos looks to bring familiar and nostalgic flavors to the masses through her new casual lunch takeout spot and continue to keep her mothers legacy alive.

Chef Yun Fuentes, Bolo

Chef Yun Fuentes is the Chef of Bolo, the Latin-American restaurant and rum bar in Rittenhouse Square. An industry veteran with more than three decades of experience, Chef Fuentes has worked as a chef in notable kitchens across the city like Alma de Cuba, Amada, and Village Whiskey, and has worked in restaurants in the region and beyond including both Patria and V Steakhouse in New York City.

At Bolo (opened to the public in April 2023), Chef Fuentes creates food that harkens to his roots in Puerto Rico while exploring other Latin-American food traditions. The restaurant is named for Chef Fuentes’ grandfather, who was himself a chef in Old San Juan. Under Fuentes’ leadership, Bolo has earned accolades from Philadelphia’s top restaurant critic, The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Craig LaBan, as well as in Philadelphia magazine, and many other publications.

Chef Fuentes developed a love for food and culinary culture while working as a kitchen porter. With soap and sponge instead of a chef’s knife, he learned the ins and outs of back-of-the-house work, eventually moving from dish basin to stove top. From there, Chef Fuentes continued to build momentum by working the restaurant circuit in his hometown of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. In the 1990s, Chef Fuentes worked under acclaimed Chef Roberto Trevińo at the Parrot Club, and Chef Richard Sandoval at Blue Agave Bar & Grill, his first appointment as Chef de Cuisine.

Chef Fuentes’ drive to polish his culinary craft led to him breaking out of his comfort zone and moving to New York City, and years later, made himself at home in Philadelphia. He started at Chef Jose Garces’ Amada in Old City working on the salad station and soon landed the title of Chef de Cuisine at Tinto, another one of Chef Garces’ restaurants. Later, Chef Fuentes found himself in the kitchen at Stephen Starr’s Alma de Cuba where he worked side-by-side with his mentor Chef Douglas Rodriguez.

Prior to Bolo, Chef Fuentes served as the Culinary Director of the MilkBoy Restaurant Group, developing inventive burgers and bar fare at both MilkBoy South Street and MilkBoy Chestnut Street.

A World in the Evening

Directed by Dan Boord and Luis Valdovino

A World in the Evening offers visual and literal poetry—poetry that cannot be reconciled with the brutality of history, with the death of a poet and the sleep of reason. Inescapable nightmares of the past are reflected in the present.

Cities at night, the rebuilding of a fire-devastated 14th century cathedral, a lonely 18th century New Mexico mission, and the poetry and theatre of Federico García Lorca are among its inhabitants.

Amor en Cuarentena

Directed by Eugenia Renteria

Set in the Central Coast, the Spanglish series follows Emi, a funny, dedicated and complicated Mexican-American teacher and hopeless romantic, as she looks for love with the help of friends and family during a global pandemic.
