A Night of Regeneration: PHLAFF x Confluence at the Academy of Natural Sciences

This Earth Month (April), PHLAFF is proud to join forces with the Academy of Natural Sciences and fellow film partners for a cinematic celebration of regeneration, resilience, and community power.

On Thursday, April 24, we invite you to a very special evening at the Confluence Film Festival, a month-long showcase centering environmental storytelling through the lens of regional filmmakers. Together with BlackStar Projects, cinéSPEAK, and the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival, we’ll spotlight work that reimagines how communities care for our planet and each other.

The theme this year is regeneration. From reclaiming land to healing ecosystems to nurturing traditions, each film on the lineup digs deep into how people are resisting the climate crisis and cultivating sustainable futures—right here in Philly and beyond.

Expect moving short films, powerful documentaries, and in-depth conversations with the creators and community members shaping this work in real time. It’s more than a screening—it’s a space for dialogue, discovery, and action.

PHLAFF will be sharing two films as a part of the programming on April 24th, Confluence’s closing night! Explore Todavia La Semilla, a short film by director Llaima Sanfiorenzo, and PHLAFF 2024 LOLA Honorable Mention A Thousand Pines, a documentary film by directors Noam Osband and Sebastián Diaz. You won’t want to miss these screenings and the Q&A with A Thousand Pines director Noam Osband—Get your tickets now!
