#PHLAFF24 Poster in collaboration with Efedefroy!

Hola Familia! We are excited to showcase our poster for the upcoming #PHLAFF24 in collaboration with artist Efedefroy! In celebration, read a statement from the artist about where his inspirations come from!

“Through urban art (steet art) I had the concern to express these pieces conceived in my imaginary, about how my cultural identity was formed, rather than as Oaxacain, like any eighties Mexican child, I remember since I was a child to wake up on Saturdays in the morning to watch the Japanese anime in national television, in the afternoon watch trilogies on channel 5 of such emblematic eighties films as "Back to the future", "Terminator", "Indiana Jones", "Chic flicks" etc and at night as a family, after dinner, watch a movie of the Mexican Gold Cinema starred by such emblematic characters as Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete, María Félix, Tin Tán, Cantinflas, Silvia Pinal, Katy Jurado etc., the variety of characters, from stories and movies are reflected in my work and tries to demonstrate that conception of

pop cultural identity of an average Mexican combining foreign popular culture with historical icons and creating a series of syncretisms that reveal the germ of a postmodernist pop art, which is also reflected even in the urban montage in my works, I use the streets of the center of my city as canvas, the colors of its vibrant walls give me the possibility of finding the perfect support for the pieces, the streets are where people live, where stories are told, where people's activity takes place and are the means for people to appreciate it. I find in urban art (Street art) a meaningful form of expres- sion for people to enjoy and experience my pieces in public space.

For me these pieces are a way of expressing my concerns, my fears and my way of conceiving the reality so chaotic that a generation so marked by idols, fashions, stars, globalization and technology lives.

With my art I want to convey the inspiration that is obtained by being in contact with different cultu- res with different thoughts and beliefs.

These characters of the Mexican gold cinema era put in situations of eighties films of popular culture and vice versa seek to break those generational and geographical barriers.

Through cinema, music and art people can find the mix of factors that make them more tolerant, better human beings in times where hate and intolerance cause us to lose our sense and respect for life. “
